America Recycles Day

America Recycles Day
America Recycles Day

America Recycles Day, also known as National Recycling Day, is observed every year on November 15. In 1999, President Bill Clinton signed the proclamation on America Recycles Day to recognize the importance and impact of recycling. Recycling reduces greenhouse gas emissions, saves energy, creates jobs, reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills and provides numerous other benefits.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the current recycling rate of the country is 32 percent. President Joe Biden calls on all Americans to participate in recycling and other eco-friendly activities not just today but all year long. It could be any activity including discarding wastes in proper bins, reusing, composting, buying products made with recycled materials, and learning how to recycle. Recycling could be done at home, work, school, and in your community. One can check with their local recycling provider to find out what they will accept in their recycling program. Together, we can work towards a cleaner and greener environment. Happy America Recycles Day!
